Which Belt?

Factory Yamaha belts always and no 500 mi is not normal. Check clutches and make sure you break belt in correctly. Do a search on "belt break in" and do some reading. -Ed

Only yamaha......and you can get lots of miles out of them!!!!!Lots!!!! Last time I tried an expensive aftermarket brand it went boooom on the river at about 90....and it had about 300 miles on it of trail riding breakin

I use only Yamaha belts. I have gotten 2-3,000 miles on most of them, but I am not a drag racer, only a trail rider. I have never had a belt fail yet (crossing my fingers). I tried a DaycoMax belt years ago on my 95 Vamx and wasn't really pleased. Only non-Yamaha belt I have ever used.

yamaha only here too. my SRX had the stock one on it when i bought it with just under 4,000 miles on the ticker, just blew it last week and replaced it with another yamaha belt.

500 miles!!!,,wth, c to c or off set must be off OEM all the way,i just changed my original belt off my XTC two seasons ago just for piece of mind

Toodddop- if your a throttle slammer no belt is going to last.I use to have a 9500 Blizzard, I was younger and loved the throttle, at times it would chew a belt up in a hundred miles!! Now that wasn't cost efficient.Proper belt cleaning, brake in and clutch alignment all work to give you long life from a belt..throttle is fun too don't get me wrong!!!!!!

i'm a throttle slammer, and my belts last me thousands of miles. my center to center distance is correct, and so is my offset. also, this isn't the days of straight pressure springs and crappy clutching, so the belts will last lots, lots, longer, especially if you have the alignment right on.

I change ours once a year or every 1,500 miles. We have 3 sleds two use the same belt and one is older. I just like the peace of mind of having a new belt and some spares. I leave one of the old belts in the machine, and the others are hanging on the trailer wall.

I 2nd mopar1rules,

By no means am I a prostock drag racer but I do like the throttle, And have never had 1 issue with any Yamaha belt. I do put a fresh one on every year however I've had belts that have well over 1000 km of hard riding on them and racing. If everything is set right you shouldnt be burning a belt up at all

my 98 srx was eating the dayco's and carlisle belts about every time I went on a trip.I went back to yammy belts and Have not tore one up since. My wife just tore a napa kevler belt up this last weekend on her sx 700 hehe Of course she stopped way before it got all tangled up.Back to Yamaha belts for her too
