Odd Question

Would anyone happen to know if there is a fuel shut off valve on an 86 phazer? I am going to attempt to remove the carbs for cleaning, and I was wondering what the best way to shut off the fuel was?

As long as you don't pull the motor over to make the pump do its thing you are not going to lose any fuel accept the tiny bit that might come out of the line when you remove the carbs.
 
Plug the lines... The fuel will continue to gravity feed the entire time they are disconnected from the carbs....

Never had mine do that. Been a while since I've played with a phazer though, but I seem to remember just leaving them open.
 
I have had it happen b4.... My father-in-law just had carbs off a phazer II last week for about 2 days and had a puddle in the sled...... Just safer to plug em, not to mention less odor....
 
Yeap, gravity siphoning the tank. Plug em or clamp the hoses tight near the end. I you can cut off the end which is damaged when its time to reconnect. Best to cut off the end anyway since it is swelled and won't seal properly when pushed back on.
 
Golf tees work pretty good to plug the lines. Also depending on how much extra line you have, you can pull them straight up through the plastic vent and tape them to keep them sticking up. As long as they are above the fuel level in the tank, they wont drip.
