Well yesterday was almost a picture perfect day on the sleds my bud and I left his place in the morning to go to a chili cookout and met up with some other friends later on the trail. All was going great until we stopped at an intersection where a group of other friends had stopped to chat. When it came time to go he went to start his sled gave it a pull and on the second one the recoil rope came out of the starter, now the fun starts. So now we are starting the sled off the clutch, that's fun, and it's now time to head home so we check our gas situation and struck out,his 800 MXZ was very low so we took it easy and didn't take any detours.
We are now about 1.5 miles from his house and his sled quits,we figured it was out of gas so I hooked a rope to it and proceeded to tow it home.Well my bud went at the broken recoil today only to find the engine is stuck,UH OH!! He now has it apart and we quickly check over some obvious things before he has to leave for work.I never got a chance to pull the float bowl off the carb in question but I did look at the carb boot and I'd say that's the problem as the rubber is starting to lift away from the metal.Another doo with ratty carb boots.Well were hoping to salvage the cylinder with muriatic acid and he has a piston and rings so it may not be as expensive a repair as he first thought. We still have other things to check yet too but his season is on halt for now.

yea, i towed a buddy to the hotel up in the U.P it was a good 10-12 mile pull, he blew his 06 f7 up, one dead piston, and blew a 2 inch hole in the case, all from a connecting rod bearing going out.

Wow crewchief!
Did the jackshaft bearing sieze and then snap the shaft?
Smallbore, a friend of mine was looking at buying a zx chassis doo, and I told him to look out for the boots wearing and then grenading the motors. Easy enough to catch if you know what to look for. Well, that and the series 3 motors get really loose after 5000 miles. One 01 mxz800 we looked at had 5400 miles and 110 psi each cylinder while warm. rebuild time....
