I bought a 700 vmax at the start of the winter and ever since my old man has been pissed that i blow by him so easily down the lakes. He has been looking at a new 4 banger something like the Rage/Vector. Just want to know how i will hold up against the new 4 strokes. I know ill get him off the line but does or can anyone say how close they would be around the mile mark.
Vmax is stock with only an updated 1 1/4 ripsaw track.
thanks

I have 2 vmax 700 and I brought a new Nytro this year and what i could say is that the nytro is alot faster(holeshot is incredible) than a stock 700, from 0 to 100mph. But a ported and piped 700 will give you a better ride!! hehe!

i have a 97 vmax that is clutched , piped and jetted. i just bought an 09 vector. they are about the same speed wise. with a little clutch work the vector will probably come out ahead(its still stock). you cant beat the 4 strokes as far as ride and reliabilty. not to mention the electric start , reverse and you no longer need to fill the oil tank. i am keeping my vmax.

Why do people say they know they can get a 4 stroker off the line? I rode a nytro last weekend and that think launches hard! It is really amazing how much torque they produce at low RPM. I would think that if they get it off the line it is because the 4 stroker is busy digging a trench as it is coming out of the hole.

My guess is that it is because the RX-1 is heavier with mucho low end torque and spins. Are they both studded? They light up the track with just a blip of the throttle. My comment above was a general one because i hear people say that all the time. They think the 4-strokers take a while to wind up or bog or something...clearly they have not driven one. Take care.

I know. That FX nytro has so much low end grunt it is amazing. Did you ride a 121 track nytro, or was it an XTX?? I have ridden all versions of the fx nytro (even the rx versions) but the 09 xtx has a lot more hookup due to the 144" track.
How anyone can actually ride a 121" track fx nytro on the trails surprises me since those things have so much power and can cheesegrater the hell out of the trail.

facts are facts..
The nitro is only at 130 hp and the apex is 150 hp. The 4 strokes are a little heavier if I am right. So add a rider so are smaller than others and there you go. You only have a small difference between sleds. It is like drag cars. If you have the same hp or close who is going to win. facts are facts.....

I rode the 121" x 1.25" ripsaw track. I can imagine how the longer track would hook.
I think the racing formula is bit more complicated than the rider weight and HP.
Weight, HP, torque, clutching, jetting, track conditions, traction, jetting, efficiencies, etc etc. A well tuned Kitty cat may be able to take fa firecat on a good day.
I do like the apex, always have...just not sure if that'd be a bit too much weight for me. Take care.

I've got a 2001 700 V Max DeLuxe, a 2001 SRX that is picked, And a 2006 Apex with 192 picks. IT ISN'T EVEN CLOSE. The Apex SMOKES both of them. Off the line or top end. On the lake, the Apex just keeps going faster and faster. JMO

my 99 srx is very competitive w/ my buds '06 apex. If i get good start, he can't get me til top end, if he gets me at the line, i stay right on him til top end, but my srx is geared down 1 tooth, that may hurt my top end a bit.
