First of, this is not directed to anyone directly on this site or anyone else on other sites trying to sell an SRX.

I see a lot of SRX's everywhere, on the internet and locally. One thing I notice is what people want and what they will most likely get, is quit a bit off. These are insane sleds and in my opinion, a staple in Yamaha history. Unfortunately, they are 8-10 years old and quickly becoming outdated. Compare them to any other 10 year old brand sled and you won't find much pulling $2500-$3500.

Again, don't get me wrong here. I wouldn't sell my '01 SRX if someone offered me $4000. It is hands down the best sled I have ever owned and will never part with it. It's just that people have to realize that they just can't get what they should be worth. And if they do, they should consider themselves lucky.

My advice is that if you have to sell, expect to only get between $1500-$2000. But at that point, if it is not necessary, keep the old girl and have fun with her as a second sled.

Just my opinion :letitsnow

you can always use it as a backup when your brand new high falooting machine blows up after 2000 miles and is at the shop for six weeks, you get no good service anymore........... My srx always gets me home.............

THE ONE THAT WILL GO UP IN VALUE IS THE 2002. LAST YEAR. YOUR CORRECT THEY HAVE GOT ALITTLE LONG AT THE TOOTH NOW AND MORE THAN NOT THEIR BEAT UP PRETTY BAD. IN MY EYES, THEY WERE THE LAST IN THE ERA OF MUSCLE SLEDS OR BIG TRIPLES. JUST THINK BACK ALL THE F-7,s AND REV,s YOU SEE ALL OVER THE PLACE. THINK BACK WHEN IT WAS THE SRX. 3:16 (yammie tony)

tony do you really think the 02 will hold the best value?? im curious now really..just becasue the older srxs the better value ones are the 77's that i have seen (except the 500's) now if that was the case here then the 98 -99 sleds would hold a better value...but you probably right but i would think any 00-02 would be the better value sleds.... give or take a few hundred one way or the other..in another 10+ years they will go back up in price.so just hold them until then & they will average around 3-4500 i bet.

its likely that the 2002 was the end of the SRX line....so to a collector, that'd be the most sought after one....

Its not just srx's though...Every time I skim through ads, I often spout out "ARe you on crack"???? Some guys and their prices are just too funny

I saw a guy tring to sell a "crazy fast" 1996 formula III here in Ontario for 3500.00

After I turned my keyboard upside down, and dried uop all the coffee I spit out, i just had to shake my head...biggest FLOP bombardier ever came out with...and he wants 3500 for a beat to hell 14 year old sled

Keep dreaming...I wonder if I can get 10,000 for my crazy fast MINT 1982 Bravo 250?

I think the 77's are the most sought after because they were the fastest out of the crate. I may be wrong, but I believe the years following lost some HP. If that's the case, then the 01 and 02 SRX will most likely bring the higher value. 98 had the crank problems, so that will hurt their value.

ive seen alot of junk for 2500 quid i would soonor pay more for a better sled, lets be honest ive bought alot of used sleds the only ones worth what i paid were yamies

BULLY REALLY TUFF TO SAY. YOU TAKE THE VMAX 4 FOR A EXAMPLE, THE 1997 IS VERY SOUGHT AFTER. AND THAN AGAIN PROBLEY THE 1992. AS FARR AS THE OLD SRX,s REALLY THE 76 340/440 SHOULD BE GOLD. ONLY 1000 BUILT. BUT THE 77 IS THE YEAR. FIRST LIKE ZACH SAYS THEY WERE THE FASTEST, SECOND THEY HAVE A AWSOME RACE HISTORY. NOW THE 78-79 -80 ARE GETTING A HEAD OF STEAM NOW BECAUSE NEXT TO INPOSIBLE TO FIND WITHOUT BEING WRECKED. I LAUGH AT THE 1981 SRX. LOVE THE FOLKLORE HERE. HEARD THIS A THOUSAND TIMES '' HEY, AINT THAT THE ONE YAMAHA NEVER RELEASED '' OR '' THAT SLED WORTH A ZILLION BUCKS ''. TRUTH BE KNOW,IN YAMAHA BUILT MORE 1981 SRX,s THAN ANY OTHER YEAR. 3:16 (yammie tony)

now see i didnt know they made a 440 in 76 only 340 i thought..now when you say 81..do you mean the 500 srx's? i personally dont know if there faster or not but i know i dont see any..& yes i meant to mention something about the vmax-4's..that is a good example with the 97's but i thoguht they were more sought after because they didnt make so many of them because that was the first year for the trailing arm suspensions. when they came with the sx's...but needless to say i dont think the newer gen srx's will be worth anything for another 10 years.

they never released the 500's? i have seen one for sale on ebay one time.

I believe they manufactured like a dozen or so, then pulled the plug. This is why they are so rare.

There is a 82' 500 in my area and I have sat on it many times, was originally owned by a dealer. Unfortunetly it has a 1983 535 cc motor, they let him keep the chassis but Yami wanted the motor back. Kind of has the same lure as the factory SRX 800 that was for sale on here a little while ago. I bet that sled will have some decent value someday, at least twenty years from now.

THE SRX 500 YOU SEE TODAY ARE GHOSTS. THATS RIGHT, OFFICALLY THAT SLED DON,T EXSIST. NOW THATS NOT TO SAY SOME DID NOT GET INTO THE U.S. FOR R&D AND SOME RACING. SLED WAS ACTUALLY SOLD IN EUROPE. I BOUGHT ONE IN MARCH OF 81. MY DEALER CALLED ME THAT AUGUST WITH THE BAD NEWS. 3:16 (yammie tony)

i dont believe it was a srx 800 from the factory..just a factory 800 racing engine from the snowcross days droped in a srx chassi..yes in deed rare..im not 100% though

srx value

Too me a sled regardless of year is worth what the market will bear if that sled is a good to pristine copy.As far as the srx line up they are getting long in the tooth and a pristine copy of what ever year will always fetch a big buck and why not it was a era that yamaha is not likely to revisit,I tend to agree with yammiegod that the 02 will likely bring the highest dollar as would the first but any year that the owner have taken care of will bring a good dollar. And 3:16 I myself had the 500 on order and was denied a dark year for the srx for sure. I dread the day that mine is so worn out as to deem it unrepairable and will pay whatever for a low mile unit.
