Hi everyone,
My 1991 Phazer with 3,000 miles on it, has been always run on Yama-Lube 2 cycle oil. The Yama_Lube is a "semi-syn" oil vs the Interceptor that is 100% syn oil. I assume that the Amsoil is much better correct? Will the Amsoil smoke less on cold starts and such, unlike the Yama-Lube that smokes a lot! If I do go with the Amsoil, should I attempt to pump out as much Yam oil as possible, or can I just mix it in? Will the Amsoil make the engine last longer?
Thanks,
Zack

I know others can/will chime in and have more insite to this. I believe the Interceptor formula is primarily for motors with power valves. Not saying you can't use it in your phazer motor just that you are probably spending more money on the Interceptor than the one below it (can't think of the name now.) The two oils will mix fine. If you want to run "only" the amsoil, then pump out the Yamalube.
any full synthetic is a better oil. but for the $$ I wasnt impressed. I ran a case of it in my viper a couple years back and the power valves were just as nasty as with yamalube. The smokeless claim is BS also, that stuff has a really distinct smell to it. yes it is a better oil but in my opinion its not worth $40 a gallon

in short...
Synthetics is where it is,you'll get less smoke(when pump is properly set up) and less engine wear because syn's have better base stock's and anti-wear additive packages, interceptor is all i use pv's or not because per above and it has more detergents in it too and it's not a multi function(marine) oil(no TC-W3 spec)like HP is. use the interceptor. $.02
