Found motor mount bolt head broken off where motor mount attaches to crankcase. What's the best was to remove??? - broken flush off.

Thank you for your help

center punch drill with left hand drill bit it may come out with that if not you will have to easy out it. May have to remove engine to do it.

Just went through this on my sled last week,i welded a washer to the broken bolt by filling the center of the washer with weld, then welded an old socket to the washer, grabbed my ratchet and it came right out!

Or just weld a nut on the flush break. The case is aluminum so mild steel weld won't burn into it. weld down the center of the nut. It's basically like welding a new head on the bolt shaft. Immediately after welding (with welding gloves on) try spinning the bolt out with your hands (while the heat is still in there)! It's an old mechanics trick for getting busted exhaust manifold bolts out of aluminum blocks.

If I weld on the case do I have to remove all electrical components, coils etc.. The tech at Dennis Kirk thought I would damage these part with the high current. I really didn't want to pull the flywheel. Any thought???

Will I damage electrical components if I weld? The bolt is broken in the top half of the crankcase and I didn't want to pull the flywheel. Any thoughts - should I remove all elctrical parts before welding?

Just unhook the cdi box. Nothing else can be damaged
Chances are that you could weld the nut on with out unhooking anything and be ok. But it is better to be safe then sory.

Just make sure you hook the gorund up real close to the area of welding. The CDI could possibly be damaged. Just unplug it. I wouldn't worry too much about the stator.
