Yea I know it's prob. not the best thing to do but can a use one of each cylinder on a 570 L/c exciter II?
sled came with Nikacyl cylinders, burned one up and found a piston and jug cheap in good shape from an older sled.
Is the begining of the casting number on the cylinder the year of mfg.?
has anyone tryed this and been successful?
Thanks

can' t see why it would not work just to boot around , can't use the same type rings though .
Do not use unless you plan on rejetting accordingly. When cylinders were cast the jetting was richer and tolerances were more. the problem with a cast cylinder is the cast iron liner will not expande as quick as the piston. If you can run a nikacyl cylinder. I have bought many from US Chrome, they are located in Fonderlac WI.

the 92 exciter had 310 mains , 42.5pilots, 5/8 turn fuel screws
the 89 exciter had 320 mains ,42.5 pilots , 5/8 turn fuel screws

I'm not looking to build a race motor just a hooty pooper to trail ride with. I got the piston and rings with the iron cylinder, so i'm fine there. how much fatter on the jets ? one - two sizes?
