'00 SX600r, I want to add a temp gauge. Do I need to keep the factory temp sensor? Can I tee a mechanical sensor along with the factory one without distorting the readings?
take a look at this ....... http://www.totallyamaha.net/forums/showthread.php?t=58534

I read that thread already. It didn't answer my question.
I'm running a mechanical gauge. I guess I will just try a tee and see what happens.

Why don't you tap a thread on the bottom of the head where the hose manifold is? I did it there. It almost looks like it made to be tapped.

What ever you do, you want to make sure the probe/bulb is in the flow of coolant and not just in the system. Like Yamahead did, adding the sensor/probe/wet-bulb in the coolant flow will give you the fastest response.
