Well my first time being kicked off the sled happened last night. A buddy came down and convinced me to go out for a short ride. There was some drifted-in snow covering the trails along side of the highway. So I went . The trails where as a hard as a rock for the first 5 miles and then we got into the small drifts about a foot high. I was leading and was loking for some more snow to cool down the sliders and saw a small drift up ahead. At the same time an oncoming car with its brights on was making it very difficult to see.Kept my eyes looking directly in front of me and then it happened. Bang, dump, bang :o| . I was off the sled and sliding on my back. It took forever to stop.I must of slid 150 feet or more.Got up, ran off the trail so I would not get run over and looked for my sled. The Viper was like 1/4 mile down the trail on its skis waiting for me.
Went back to the place I was bucked off after retrieving the Viper. WOW
No wonder I could not hang on. There was a huge hole and deep tracks where a vehicle had gone into the ditch during the freezing rain on Monday.
Dusted myself off and got on our way again after my buddy could breathe again after laughing sooo hard at me. :D:DP

Yeah, It caught me off guard. Was a nice smooth slide along the trail on my back.
Here's some pics of what I hit last night

which HWY was that anyways.I have hit many like that after a car hit the ditch and left rutts.I never flew off to this day.Maybe I'll give it a try at that spot and see what happens..where is it exactly...lol :o|

giving that excuse about oncoming headlights from a car...that don't cut it..you have got to pay attention.Going 100mph don't help either.Don't you know that in conditions like that.you always let your buddy be the lead sled, while you trail behind safely....lol. Wish I could of been there to see all this happen..oops.....was that a Ford Truck passing 2 sledders last night and nailed his high beams at the sledder.Crap that was me...I am SOOOO sorry Stein.Didn't know it was you. :o| :dunno:

Well I was only going around 60mph or so. I saw a few more of them rutts later on.I think one was an imprint of a Ford truck , kind of like yours blue.
Well there's still time to come on down and try it for yourself.
Going rutt hunting again tomorrow. You in?

I think I will take the 600 out for a boot cause I have ice scratchers on it to get some slider lubrication.Think I wanna put on the Sno Stuff Can again and make some noise at the same time. There isn't much to ride on and it will be hard..a little boring but better then nothing.I don't think the Red River is safe now is it.It was great to ride on 2 weeks ago most of the way except for the odd ice jam sticking out.Didn't make it to the Rat River this year yet.I was looking for it South of St.Adolph, just can't remember how far it is from the Bridge.

The Wat Wiver is about 8 miles south of St A. When cuzin down the Wed Wiver look up when you are about 7 miles south of St A you will see the power marked power lines. About a mile after that you should see th Wat Wiver. Not soo good ridin down there tho. Last time I checked it was very rough :dunno:

I was very close then.I passed them power lines marked with the floatation balls at least a good mile and didn't see the entrance to the Rat. It must be a little difficult to spot then.Next time you are out that way, could you place a Blue Flag on a stick in the snow so I could spot it.You think the Red River is safe to go on tomorrow or is there a chance of open water somewhere, mostly around the corners.
