I just bought a nice 96 phazer 2 and noticed the ski stance is wider than other older Phazer 2s . I know the ski stance changed in 1990 , did it change again after 1990-1992 ?

oh , i thought it looked to well done to be aftermarket or custom . How did I miss that change . I was usually up on changes back then . thanks for the info daman .

It is easy to tell because the cans are set out from the body work. Yamaha apparently did not want to spend the money to redesign the panels at that point in the Phazer's life.

I just today looked at an early Phazer that was sitting alongside the road for sale that had a front end widening kit on it. I'm sure I had seen them back when they were racing Phazer's with them, but don't remember looking at one closely. It looked like one side was bent up at the point the extension was welded on. It looked to have been a weak point.

I believe they went out to 38.5 inches in 96'

She is a beauty.....looks just like mine......I have been looking around my area for another one and just haven't found one yet!!!!!!The search continues!!

I am in the process of cleanin her and I see after taking the seat off that its been outside for a while . The wood seat floor is completly shot . darn it . No rips but seams are tender . I clean a little and take apart , clean and take apart , I guess I will strip her down and do a semi complete rebuild now .

Speaking of rebuild , I saw on a website a cool forum where this Dad totally rebuilt a phazer 2 for his daughter and Wow did it look nice . :bling:

yes , I paid $1000.00 on ebay . Do you think its too much? Be honest . I ve got some more pics but its apart right now , Im going to change the hoses and have already emptied all the gas out of the tank ....and noticed it mixed with oil , gas is blue black , Is this normal or is this an indication of trouble. Oh I also put a hose around the wiring where its wearing on the steering.
and some pics of before and after

Thats a good price if it is in good shape and I think that it looks pretty good so I would say you did great!!! I paid 1100 for mine. I would put new hoses on it and adjust the oil pump and clean the carbs and put the gas and oil in it and check the plugs and piston wash and make sure it is using oil and go from there!!!!!

and more

I bought a 96 off criags list the second week of Jan. for $850. Pretty mint shape, had about 3200 milew on it.

I'd like to have a 93 SX like in the pics, I think I'll find one next year.

I sold a 91 with 4500kms for $1600 Canadian two years ago to give you an idea. For $1000 you can have a great deal of fun with that sled. It'll keep running for you.

yea , over here in NH the prices are different . I have seen a lot of nice sleds in Minn, for realitivly cheap money . I got my Exciter SX over in Minn, it did cost alittle bit for shipping . But I did get a real nice classic Exciter sled . $850 is a great price for a mint Phazer. I hope I have good luck with this sled.

what year model range did the 91 phazer 2 stay unchanged from and to?

like 90-94????

First the Year / Serial/Vin# Prefix / followed by Model designation

1984/ ..?../ H (Original Phazer) 116" track
1985/..?.. /J
1986/...?.. /K
1987/ ..?.. /L
1988/83V/M
1989/..?.. /N
1990/87H/ P (Phazer II's introduced) Self adjusting brake, Longer 121" track/seat, wider 36.2" ski stance, shorter windshield, came Stock with Hand and thumb warmers. Ski knuckles in front of T.S.S. and steering rod in rear.
1991/88H /R (First year of the ST's ie. 136" long tracks)
1992/89F?/S
1993/8AK? /T
1994/..?../ U
1995/8BG? / V
1996/ ..?../ W (Wider ski stance 38.6")
1997/ ..?.. / A (SS Models)
1998/..?../ B
1999/..?../C (Last of the TSS Phazer's)

Can anyone add the Serial/Vin# Prefix to any of the missing years ?

"The wood seat floor is completly shot ."

Go to your local Napa/Carquest/Autozone store and buy a 3/16" x 24' x 16" Plastic truck mud flap for $16.50 and make a bottom. Your seat will never again rot or soak up 10 lbs. of water !
