I am running a P-G-P (139 kgs), 8DG weights (34.26 g), 4.5g inside hole, 4.5g in outter hole, 47 degree helix (Stock), 23-40 gearing (stock was 21-40), Hauck red secondary spring wrapped at 110* (9-2). 15mm rollers, 1999 600sx with 760 hauck Big Bore Kit with Hauck Hushers (Simons CPR). 1" Predator track with 144 Megabite studs down the middle, carbon tech reeds,
This setup on a nice bean field with about 1" of good snow would start turning at 8800 RPM and then RPM would begin dropping. My next test will be to remove the 4.5g rivet at the tip to try to keep my RPM up. Not sure if my gearing a bit taller is causing this, I don't think it should since this ratio is the stock 700sx setup. When I finished my few runs, I checked the primary and it was VERY warm, I could only hold my hand on there 1-2 seconds. The secondary was completely cool. I did notice that when cool, it launched pretty hard, pulled good too.
Do you guys think the belt is slipping on the primary? If so, how would I best solve that? Would backing off the secondary help? Would a new belt fix it (8DN)?
Then the other issue is my under rev. I am trying to achieve a 9000-9200 shift, So to prevent my RPMs from dropping, I am going to put lighter rivets in, and try an empty outter hole. I have tuning screws (4.5, 5.0, 5.5, 5.9 grams) that I'd like to use if possible but with the stiff primary spring, and my OEM weights, and current RPMs, I am thinking I'd need new weights?
Anyone have some advice?
Thanks,
Craig

the 8DG weights are not the best to use. 8AB works great in a sx big bore.
the 47 helix is also not a good choice. 14.5 rollers also work better. they grip the belt harder & the red spring must go.
if you don't want to buy new weights & rollers & helix then put 4 mm of shims under the primary spring & a silver @ 60 in the secondary. this will raise the engagement & full shift rpm & hold the shift out steady.

Hi Bob. I put the 47 degree helix in there to baseline and will swap it out with my 51-45 before my next run. The secondary spring is a hauck red which I believe is stiffer than the stock yamaha red secondary. I actually would like to swap out the rollers for the 14.5 mm. I also have a set of 48g base weight heavy hitters that I have yet to try since I have fixed my exhaust flange issue.
Do you think there would be an issue running used rollers if i can find them?
Where online can I see the 8AB profile? I have a print out of a 8AB-00 that are 41.0g
