Well last Sat. I rode back my SRX on the river from a friends house where we left them the previous week. Bad condition with ice and a hard crust all the way. Me and my father could of left our sleds there (he has a Venture) but wanted to go fishing at our cottage. Took 30 minutes at 30km/h to get there. It turns out we still managed to cook both our hyfax but no matter as it was a great day fishing and I caught a nice pickerel.

Next morning we head down early to the cottage to change our hyfax. When I moved my sled and my father notices small green puddle underneath. Great... But then I told myself better leaking outside then inside with engine problems right? Can;t be my heat exchanger as I'm not studded. Manage to narrow it down back ride side of engine but could see under the engine.

Brought it to a mechanic last night and he called me back today. The hose going from the water pump to the reservoir is leaking. It cracked where it is zip-tied to the engine. In the long run it still managed to rub and create a 2 inch gap in the hose. Part is on order and will be ready for this weekend! ;)!

Just though I would share if it can help or at least entertain anyone.

Good thing you caught it!!!!!!!!Mine was in the line that runs to the heated carbs under the thermostat hose and when mine went I was riding!!!!!! It makes for some nice looking heads

You sure have the most popular heads around here with that pic!

How come yours went? Was it rubbing anywhere? I don't want anymore of my lines to go.

Thanks that make me feel a lot better ;):D ;):D

It was rubbing on the frame under the coolant bottle hoes that goes to the thermostat....it has been a while since it all went down, but I can tell you that I look everything over during regular maintenance to make sure it doesn't happen again!!!! It was my second ride with my srx and it is not a good way to instill confidence!!!!!!!

also take a look behind the recoil were the coolant line is routed to the front of the motor. there is a metal tab that holds the hose in place that will also wear a hole in the line. i caught mine a couple of years ago before it went thru. what i did was wrap the hose with some old inner tube and zip tied it. once the pipes are back on you don't see it. i also wrapped my carb line on the PTO side were it enters into the bottom of the carb. it will rub thru there as well. did it to me while was riding a few years ago in Quebec. i had to remove and clean the belt and the secondary inside the hotel tub were we where staying. found a piece of fuel line and replaced it so i could finish the weekend. ;)!

That is where mine rubbed through also.

That's what I told the mechanic to do. Thanks to this site.

I'll ask him to check there also. Hopefully he is not tired of me calling him. Or perhaps I can check myself once I get it back? Can I see/do this without removing anything?
