ran the SXR600 today. It is one tough sled and the 600 bullet proof to boot.Had it pinned all the time,on the river and in the powder.Track does not rachet anymore and she snaps when you touch the throttle.
BUT....for clutching I have 8dn-20's...2.7 inner and about 2.61 outer(drilled and ground down) Running y-w-y spring.Total weight with bushing is 48.7 grams each.Secondary is green at 80 now and 47 helix. Clutches are cool to touch.I can't seem to hit the magic 8500 at wot.The other day was at about 8100-8200 at wot.So I ground down nearly another 1 gram total off the rivets and really didn't notice any change. My wrap the other day was at 70,so today I wrapped to 80 and picked up some rpm and speed. The other day was only getting a tad over 140 km/h.Today with wrap increased, rpm picked up maybe to 8300 and speed went fron 140 to 155 km/h and rpm wouldn't pu anymore. So does this mean I am still to heavy in the weights on the tip. When I pin it from a launch, she hits around 8200 and drops to 8100 and then climbs. I almost got her to 100 mph today, but being held back.

Too much secondary wrap....your clutching is out
you want the red at 80 in the secondary
the 8dn-20 weights are meant to work with 15.6 mm rollers.
your overloading the primary(overshift) & holding back the secondary in low gear.
run stock weights with 3.6 grams each hole & stock secondary configuration.

I was kinda thinking about that.Had the 8Dn's in there because I was running 1 51/43 helix before. As soon as I can get some rivets,I will put back to stock. But I am impressed with the 600 motor.A few hundred km's away from 11,000 km's on the sled and all original.Starts good to.

Sled sat all week, temps were in -32 wind chills.Went to start sled today.First pull she fired,2nd pull she started. Not bad for a sled that has 6600 miles(11,000 kms) under her belt.
Anyways..TURK!!!! I went and changed to 8DG-00 weights from the 8DN-20's.Put 3.6 g in each hole.Red spring at 80 wrap.Totally not working. She now is out of the hole at 8800 rpm's,drop to 8500 and climbs to 8800 wot.So that didn't work.Couldn't reach the speed I did last weekend with the other setup.I had 15mm rollers and y-g-y primary today. So I went to change to 14.5 rollers and y-w-y primary, red spring at 70 wrap ...engagement dropped a tad,but out of the hole is still 8800 and wot is 8800.
My total weight with bushing,8DG-oo weight and 3.6 x 2 = 42.76 grams. Now if I go put back the 8DN-20 's empty, that would be(bushing incl) 43.39 grams, and I would use 15 mm rollers again, I wander if there would be a change.I have some .85.and 2.44 rivets left..so maybe I could try some of them on the 8Dn weight.I have 3.6 and 4,5 rivets on order from Rich, but that may get here in 10 days. What you suggest for until then to get me closer.

you wanna be 4.5 gram inner. stock rollers should be 14.5 in a 600

Turk I'll have to wait for them 4.5's.I have the 14.5 rollers in now ..SHOULD I ALSO JUST USE STOCK SPRING Y-G-Y..Got to admit, the sled pulls off the line great,in a good hard pack of snow the ski's will actually jump up at launch.Because I am geared down tooth the sled pulls hard to 140 kms/hr,just need to hit that magic number again. Thanks for the info again.I;ll ride it like this for now,no choice since SRX is layed up waiting for thermostat.Like usual I will get everything almost spot on and then winter will be over again.

good chance you got your sled sounds like nice a hobby for clutching hope u note all those try on a paper ...does your wife like your sled it seem like it takes alots of your time

my wife doesn't care. She work night shifts and sleeps during the day.I have it made in the shade. We never see each other...lol.I could do clutching all day and she wouldn't have a clue what I am up to,as long as there is no other woman involved,I am safe...

Put the tools away and lets go ridin

great sled this 600 triple
Well I put on 70 hard ridden miles today and the sled performed.Got to luv that Sno Stuff Can on it,it sounds sweet.
Had it pinned all the time and the 600 just purrs.Again took one pull to start today. Finally hit past 11,000 km's on it..(11,073 to be exact)This sled does not disappoint.Re -did clutching this am.Since I don't have ant 4.5 rivets to drop into the lower hole of the 8DG's,I went back to the 8DN-20's.I tried to figure out last night what I really needed to get the rpm up with these.Turk said it was to much weight in the arms.I got 2 grams off each arm by using 2.44 inner and ,85 outer, and 15mm rollers also..Ran y-w-y primary and red spring at 70 with the 47 helix.Man does that ever work good.Sled jumps when I pin it and accelerates steady and smooth.Did some long hauls on river, even though it is pretty icy .If I hook up well,it is at 8200 at launch and slowly climbs to 8500 spot on.My speed today was about 155 km's/hr.I am happy.Don't forget I have a 1 1/4 ripsaw track and have geared down 1 tooth.Maybe I should put back the stock gear and might gain a little more. Here's a test I did just to let you know how this sled hooks up.The ripsaw actually does great.Along the edges of the river I found some flat smooth spots.I can hear ice under my ski's when I ride over it.There is only about 1" of snow on top of this ice where I am.
I stop the sled, then I nail the throttle...The sled pulls like mad(on this surface). It lifts the ski's right off the snow just enough.I went back to the spot I launched from and counted in big steps how many lengths the ski's were off the snow.I calculated the ski's were up for about 88 feet as sled is pulling, not to shabby for a little 600.In the harder packed snow, sled jumps up and ski's lift at least a foot.Didn't think this sled could do that, but my clutching seems to have made the difference. My transfer is set at 50/50.All in all I am very pleased with the performance.I even picked up 10 km's/hour running along the ditch were the snow is 6 to 12" deep along the roadway and my rpm's are staying at 8500.
Now if I could just get the SRX dialed in,I'd be happier.Once I get in the rivets I will make another attempt to get my slight over-rev to disappear.

I've been following your post with alot of interest. I knew there was alot more in those little 600's. I've been searching this forum for a couple years now on how to get my rpm's down on my SXVenom, stock setup, GGG primary, 8DG's and a red secondary (47 deg). I installed 4.5 rivets on the inner and it brought my rpm's down form 9700 to 9000 all I need to do now is find the majic weight to bring me down another 400-500. I'm wondering if changing the wrap will do it. It's really depressing that every time I post my problem I get the standard "DO A SEARCH". There is nothing anywhere on a sled with GGG primary. Time to spend some $ on different weights and springs I guess. Wish I had a wife that worked nights lol. Great info thanks.
Change outer rivet also to a 4.5 & slap on a new belt magnum.
