What is different about the 78 SRX base gasket vs. 77,79,80. Those all have the same part# ,but 78 has a different Part#.? Just picked up a bunch, they all have 8H0 Part#. Thanks

HOLES FOR STUDS ON THE GASKET. 78-79-80 WILL TAKE SAME GASKET. KEEP IN MIND SOME EARLY 1978 SRX,s HAD 18 mm STUDS LIKE FOUND ON 76-77 SRX. LATTER ONES HAD 21 mm. THERE WAS A UPDATE IN DEALER TECH MANUAL. 3:16 (yammie tony)

SHOULD BE ABLE TO. I ASUME YOUR 78 HAS SMALL STUDS. I BOUGHT MY 78 SRX OFF A FAMILY MEMBER WHO BOUGHT IT NEW. MINE HAD LARGE STUDS.
NOTE " THE 78 SRX 8G9 HEADS WILL NOT FIT THOSE STUDS. THEY MUST BE OPENED UP. 3:16 (yammie tony)

Actually, the 78 heads marked E2 are for the small studs and E1 are for the big studs.YAMMIEGOD3:16 said:SHOULD BE ABLE TO. I ASUME YOUR 78 HAS SMALL STUDS. I BOUGHT MY 78 SRX OFF A FAMILY MEMBER WHO BOUGHT IT NEW. MINE HAD LARGE STUDS.

All 76-80 base gaskets were updated to the 8H0 gasket.
