rail though the track window?????
i was riding my 97 sx with a 2001 srx suspension in the back and i stabbed a rail right though my track window...
put new max performance adjustable transfer rods in my 02 viper and sent the front of the rail though the track window as well...
all in the same night
WHY??

Are you missing your rail tips? Been there done that, recently gave me a nice ride over the bars in deep snow and back in the day elliminated me from one of the Winnipeg to St Paul I 500 races on day 3!!! Both times it also destroyed the track. Most modern track windows are too small to fit a rail through ,that has its tips still in place. Sleds with reverse tend to want to tear off the tips. After my recent incident, I installed allen head screws, washers, locknut, + locktight to secure the tips on all of my proaction suspensions for this very reason.

Yep i installed a anti stab kit also after spearing my track.Yours could be from loose track or just a fluke.

i did this on 2 sleds....on my '99 srx, i broke the tip of the slide rail off, and then the rail speared thru the track window.....wipping out the new track. also, last year on my '02 viper, i put the tip of the slide rail thru the stock track window too. the tip never broke off the slide rail tip on the viper.....maybe it was just a fluke? wrecked that track too. only good thing about that happening, was i then had an excuse to get a new ripsaw track.....lol.
yeah all the plastic black covers were on the rails...they both stayed on also...i know we hit a big hard piece of snow, and thats what i think pushed the rail through...
bad luck .. i never heard about this happening b4....i guess we are investing in some ainti-stab wheel kits for sure...gotta save the tracks...
thanks guys at least i know i wasn't the only one

Unfortunately, it happes pretty often. The anti-stab wheel kits are really the only way to go to completely keep it from happening. This winter my riding buddy drove his truck into a ditch, I pulled him out, he unloaded his sled put his helmet on, and jumped a snowbank on the side of the road, and speared his track. Sled ran for less than 10 minutes that trip. He had a great day that day.bighohn said:yeah all the plastic black covers were on the rails...they both stayed on also...i know we hit a big hard piece of snow, and thats what i think pushed the rail through...
