Hi everyone,
A gas station close to my home sells Cam 2 gas (100 something octane) for almost $7.00 a gallon. Would it benefit my 2000 SRX to either put some Cam 2 in it, or fill the tank with Cam 2. Would that gas be better than the 93 octane E 10 gas that I can get at regular stations?
Thanks,
Zack

Is it better? Probably/
Will it benefit your sled to cut the 93 with some 100+? Possibly.
You will make more power on the least amount of octane necessary for your particular sled. If your worried about the 93 pump gas, then feel free to cut it with some better fuel. You will minimize the risk of detonation form bad gas, but if your motor doesn't need it, you will be simply wasting your money.

we have cam2 by me it has crapinal in it just like the 93 mandated, oh wait they say now the 93 doesnt have it, the last time i was at school they said to use mid grade because that gas was the best, the regular was crap, and the high octaine was reg with crapinal in to boost octaine and it degrades to less than regular, so who knows there is a test you can do to find out how much crapinal is in your fuel ill see if i can find it. if your cam2 has no crapinal in it you can run it, it will not hurt any thing if the motor was desined for high octaine 93+. high octaine fuel just has a higher resistance to detination /preignition it does not add hp it just makes the motor run as desined. a low compresion motor probably would not benifit
I found an interesting fact out this weekend, did you know that Cam2 is really a competitor name for sunoco racing gasoline?? Meaning that it is refined by sunoco and has all of the exact same properties and ingredients, if you want I can send you the link to read for yourself.
If you mix some race gas with your 93 it will not make your sled a total dog, you may notice a little less pull when you snap the throttle, but should help out any issues with poor fuel. I bought some 110 octane Turbo Blue race gas for $6.35 gal last weekend as I am leary about the quality of the fuel up north and was going to mix it with 90-whatever I could find to try to help aleviate any possibilities of a burn down. My $.02. T
