I loaded my sled in the back of the Dakota and am wondering if 2 feet of overhang from tailgate is too much. The End of the tailgate is at the middle of my skid.

I think you will be fine as long as its tied in good. How much is your truck sagging in the back? Is there ample clearence in the rear wheel well? Your not towing a tailer also , are you?

No trailer sag is minimal. I Wrapped a strap around each pogo and tied it down to the front tiedown in the truck then i took 2 more straps one on each side and too the rear of the tunnel then i put a safety straps between the skis just in case.

yea, it should be fine... i remember seeing pics on here or some other forum some other thread about some guy loading a 151 in the back of a yota. with the tail gate UP! looked rediculous.

It was fine. The sled itself didn't fair to well. Day 1 after 61 miles of riding I spun the collar on the jackshaft. I found a replacement used one 10 minutes before the place closed on Saturday for 100. Not sure if I paid too much. Took a couple hours to fix. Next day we head to Charlevoix from Alba. On the way home I jumped a berm and lost my rear shock. It was a kimpex and now it looks like a banana. I am going to fix it and put it away and use as a back up and buy a newer sled. Last 2 rides sled has broke twice each trip. Looking for a 04 or newer sled that has a nice ride that I go for 150-200 mile rides without feeling like I got beat up. Also something the wife can handle with confidence. Her riding skill is low.
