I have an 01 sxr 700 that I am working on. I am looking to see what yrs n models will interchange with this crank. The crank lost a main bearing so that is why I am trying to figure this out.

I did search about cranks and there is not to much info about this for some reason.

I will be starting a thread about this with some pics but I am just trying to figure out this crank issue until I get the thread started.

Thanks

i think you can use pretty much any year 6-700cc tripple redhead (non-powervalve) crank in that sled.

just got into this for bros viper and we know that srx/viper cranks are different stroke from the red head.

must be a bad year for cranks.

The pto crank bearing is different from what I've been told.On '98 and up is a different and stronger bearing.Maybe you could modify the case to accept the updated version, but I am not sure.Possibly somebody will chime in on this I have never done this stuff, but am just going on what I have read and have been told.

Well after looking at this it is the outer bearing. I am going to try and get this off myself. I do know it is pressed on but maybe with luck I can get this off.

If it works it will save me alot of $$$$ ;)!

al's

Looking at Al's snowmobile parts warehouse ,they list them as being the same from 98 up 700 triple and 600 triples (redhead) as the same part number.I think the 97 has the same crank but a different bearing on the one end that is a single bearing with no index pin to hold it in the case.

If all you need is a bearing ,dont buy a whole new crank. I would send it to someone to have the bearings and seals done and trued . It would be cheaper.

Well that is what I was going to do but they want 500 to ship fix it and ship it back. No matter what it is going to cost me 100 to 200 to fix this plus the other gaskets to get this sled running.

Also I am trying to get this back up and running by sunday.

Anyhow the 2nd bearing is bad and that is all.

So basically it goes bearing rubber seal then the bearing that is bad. So I am looking to see if I can get it off and if I can't I am pretty sure that I am looking for a good crank assembly since it will be cheaper.

Time will tell. :o|

the cranks are the same only diff is the pto bearing 98 is wider and you can up-date 97 for this fix if you need a crank you can a reman for around 350.00 plus shipping vipers are higher

update..

I got the end bearing off and talk about a pita to get off. Anyhow I got it off and I am working on the next bearing. This one looks very complicated to get off I am going to grind the old bearing in half then use the press because you can not get the puller between the crank n the bearing :o|
