i have a standard 96 vmax 600. i need to rebuild or would consider upgrading my clutch. either buy a comet, or upgrade the original clutch. im new to the clutch thing so i would like opinions on what to do and where to get the stuff to do it. sled is all stock. i wouldnt care if i even rebuild it stock but what yamaha will charge me for parts i might as well upgrade. any help would be greatly appreciated. im leaving in two weeks on another trip. i also have another 95 i belive it is clutch i bought used for parts, but the rollers apparently are different inner diameters. will this clutch work on my 96? also, i would be willing to sell the 95 clutch. exploring my options. thanks for your help.

Keep an eye out for a Comet 108 EXP. Simple bolt on! Just go to the Comet site and lookup what clutch, weights and spring you need. I picked up 2 brand new ones with the right weights and springs for $245.00 each. IMO, it's a much better design compared to the Yami units.
Yes, the 95 clutch will work on your 96.

I put a Polaris P-85 from a 600 on my 94 VMAX 600 and absolutely love it. You will use your Yamaha bolt and will use the Poalris bushing but will have to have bushing or bolt turned down to match each other. Any local machine shop will be able to do with a nominal fee. I have had friends that had alot of trouble with the comets.
