Well I just snagged a cabin in Conover for the big weekend in Eagle River. Anyone else planning to go? I will be in the greater Eagle River area Thursday, Jan. 13 through Sunday the 16th. Eleven of my friends and I will be staying at the Buckatabon Lodge in Conover, about 12 miles north of Eagle River. There will be only 3 yamahas in my group (two are mine) and all my friends let me here about it, so I may need moral support by the end of the weekend.
I've always considered that the week to stay away from Eagle River. The trails have to get beat up and there are probably way too many wannabe racers out there. I prefer to have the trails and pit stops a little less crowded, too. Since I'm the designated leader in our group, that whole Derby week makes me uneasy.
We've had a lot of success going the weekend after the Derby. The weather is usually right on, and the trails have been put back into shape.
Hopefully, we'll get snow all over the Midwest this winter, so we can check out some new riding areas. Eagle River kicks ***, but I think I've hit every trail in the area now.
P.S. Watch yourselves up near the Burnt Bridge Bar in Conover. Last year, the DNR was watching the trails just south of there.

I am with you Bob, that why we are having our TY Ride in Muni...everyone else can go to Eagle River...
I've never seen the races at eagle river is why I want to go. To each their own I guess.
