I just installed vmaxjohn's clutch setup from the tech. pages on my 99V-MAX500SX.I'm thinking of dropping a tooth or 2 on the top gear (21teeth to 20 or 19).I'm looking for more holeshot.How much would this help me?How much top end would I lose?

I dropped one on my 600, it was great, I could really feel the diference, now I installed a Reverse on my sled and went to the stock 21 top. I don't have that much holeshot anymore.....Beware that with a 20 T I was almost done with the chain, I think if you go to 19 you might need a diferent chain.

gear down and shift it hard you should not lose any top end by gear down 1 tooth

I went form the stock 23 in my sled to a 22. I could still use the same chain, but the next tooth after that I'd say have to use a 68 chain. I love the extra grunt I get from that smaller gear. BTW, I still hit 101 on my GPS on hard packed lake 2 weeks ago. I wasn't even on it all the way.
