hey guys, im gonna go look at a 96 vmax4 800 here in my own town with 2260 miles on it. comes with a cover, manual, and just had a m10 and a new track put in it. its been inside all its life and the guy is asking 3000. he says he's negotionable, im just skeptic cause i know this things are known for crank problems, supposedly not the 96s. but i dont know, obviously take a compression test, what else should i look for? thanks

'96 had no crank problems that issue was fixed, nothing really to check
into just give it a good looking over, comp test, clutches, etc, do make shure
it has a good belt because if you have to buy one ther $90+ bucks not cheap.

P.S get him down on that price too, thats high for a molested '96.

price

ya, i dont plan on paying him anywhere near that, i dont really need it but if the price is right id love to have it. whats a good price for a machine like this, supposedly its in terrific condition. im looking to get a good deal, and i want to upgrade from my 600, performance, and suspension wise. how is the vmax 4 in the trails? im sure its a little nose heavy. what should i expect? i guess ill either love or hate it right? ill look into that insurance policy too. ;-) what kind of horsepower do these have and whats the lake speed prolly gonna be? i always say id rather have the power and not need it than need it and not have it!!!

1996

You are looking at 150hp stock and you will see the end of the dream meter especially if the clutches have been done for over drive. On the trails it is a little to handle, they like the one ski routine on most corners if you are hard into it. You will get really bad mileage if you are hard on the throttle lots but that is expected and it is not a bad price to pay for the gitty up and go factor.

3000 $ ? here in Norway we pay at least 7 000 $ for a 96 vmax 4

I run 11 500 km with mine with no problem, untill I hit a tree in about 100 km.h (60 mph)

IF YA WANT A VMAX 4 , THE 800 IS THE ONE TO GET. MORE HP, BETTER CLUTCHES, BETTER ING. etc. I AM NOT A FAN OF STICKING A M-10 IN THEM THOUGH. THAT RUINS THE SLED IN MY OPINION. SORRY!!! 3:16 (yammie tony)

m10

why do you say that, about the m10? what would you prefer or recommend? ooked at the sled tonight and i need it. its awesome. he came down to 3000 from 3400. clean as hell. comes with stock suspension, brand new carbides in the package, two brand new belts, manual, and another set of hifax. also a factory cover. it also has a comet clutch on it.

THAT SLED DID NOT COME WITH A M-10. THAT SLED WAS A LAKE RACER, NOT A MOGEL MASHER. THAT SUSPENSION HAD TO BE MODIFIED AND DRILLED INTO CHASSIS TO FIT. LOOK, ITS PERSONAL PREFRENCE HERE. I LIKE THEM ORIGINAL. IF THE SLED THAT GOOD, GRAP IT. 3:16 (yammie tony)

I agree with tony, that sled now is molested not original worth LESS!!!,,i paid waaay less then that for my 1997 in MINT shape 1,100 miles hard to find one cleaner. it all comes down to what you want to pay if your happy with 3k pull the trigger but IMO it's 5-600 bucks to high still. unless you don't care about originality and value yea then buy it..$.02 :)

the comet clutch is a strike IMO

definitely appreciate it

ya everyone has their own opinion thats why i am asking you guys. i seriously just got back into it and i know a vmax 4 is my dream sled. i know nothing about the suspensions and clutches and all that stuff but i want to learn. im not a kid and i drag race cars so im not stupid. i appreciate all of your opinions and i will take it into consideration. ill see if i can get him to come down, ill offer him 2500 and see what he does. its too close to pass up and its beautiful. hard to find so im gona get it one way or another. i looked at a couple on craigslist but they were nowhere near here and not as nice by far so, im gona splurge. what do u guys prefer over the comet?

can give you a killer set up. if you get it pic's are mandatory.

ALL I WILL SAY AND NOBODY CALLING YA STUPID, WHERE YA SEE THAT HERE, SOMEDAY WAY DOWN THE ROAD YOUR GONNA LOOK TO SELL THAT SLED AND I WILL BET THE RANCH WHO EVER LOOKS AT IT SAYS '' NOPE '' THAT SLED DID NOT COME WITH THAT M-10. 3:16 (yammie tony)
