ok guys.... we got 9inches of snow ;)! BUT I HAVE A PROBLEM....
my 1997 SX 700 ices up and then runs like crap... the carbs ice over..... it was 18'F out and i had my vents taped shut to stop snow from coming in.... im using ISO-HEAT in my gas....... it runs GREAT until i get in the powder
any help?!?! :o| :o| :dunno:

Did the 97 Sx come with the carb heaters (coolant routed through the carbs)?

How's the filter element on your airbox. Maybe that's got some holes in it letting the snow in. Check the course filter material around the element as well, because that should be letting air into the airbox primarily thru the foam thingy between the dash and hood.

You have something cracked or missing as I've got a 97 (no heated carbs) that will take as much snow as you want to feed it and never have a problem. Is your foam thingy in place under the gauges? Do you have a pre-filter on it? That will make a big difference in that the foam doesn't fill up with snow. Do you have the underhood vents taped shut so that the airbox is sucking through the foam and not mixing underhood air with thte outside. They are directly under the foam that I just mentioned. Should be 4 of them.

Check it out and post back. You shouldn't need heated carbs to be able to play in the powder.

Do you have pipes on this SX? If so, I have have seen the Benders Mag pipe cool off in powder to the point that it flooded out a cylinder!
