I just picked up an 02 with 3800 miles and it has the MAXX Perf roller with a 64/44. The primary appears to be stock but Im not 100% Around the yard it jerks you back hard and feels spot on but I havnt had it out on a long stretch. Is 64/44 in the ball park for a roller set-up? BTW, it has a Ultimax belt right now and I was planning on putting on a 8DN. I also had Drag and Flys on my Dragon 700 and was IMPRESSED! Any feedback around HC weights and springs for the Yami?

What are your rpm,s from a dead stop to full speed. Anything close to 82-8500 rpm from start to finish is good. Are the clutches cool? Don,t do this on a twisty trail.8dn belt will raise rpm,s 2-300 but it,s a better belt.We need way more info to make an assesment.
drag n fly,s work well on a yamaha but with that secondary your gonna have to tune it yourself.
Does it need a change?
Is the clutching way out?
You now know the parameters & you tell us.

I havnt had it out on a long enough stretch to really try it but my initial observations are:
lots of black rings in the bottom of the sec and also in the middle of the primary. Also at some point it grenaded a belt as the clutch cover and lower coolant hose shield have evidence of damage. The clutch had never been cleaned so it was caked with belt and was really uneven and rough. I cleaned and sanded it really good so maybe Sunday with a good belt and clean clutches I can get a better baseline where its at...

Well I just rode 100 miles Saturday. 39 degrees out and soft trails....It has a 1" Hacksaw unstudded but from a roll it hits 82 then climbs to 84-8500 with excellent backshift. 0-60 is a little sluggish--it feels like its slightly to loaded down but it was almost 40 degrees in mush snow so no panic by anymeans. Top end is sick as I was expecting. Was hitting 110 (speedo) all day long and from 100-110 didnt take forever either. DCS does flash after holding it in the kitchen for a few seconds and occasionally it would flash at 1/8 throttle cruising. Gas mileage was incredible--prob around 13-14 riding hard. The guy I bought it from said when he bought the Bender can he bought the "jet kit" to go along with it so I have to tear the carbs off and investigate and compare to baseline (stock) now. I noticed it pulled harder when cruising at 1/8 throttle for a few seconds then whack to WOT. It feels lean on the pilot and rich on the main but overall the clutching felt pretty darn good and ultimately it rocks...

your running a 64/44 helix? that's a 20deg spread.
Yeah thats why I posted on here b4 I ever rode it because I was a little suspicious based on my experience in the past wih my older Yamies. It does feel a little to loaded down below 50 mph yet it nails 8200 and climbs perfectly to 8500 so I dont know what to think. Im gona break down the primary this week and see whats going on there now. Again, overall for 40 degrees and slushy it run strong....
