My 03 Viper Mountain idles like crap and has a massive bog when taking off from a stop. After ridding and coming to a stop it will idle rough then stall out. Have to choke the crap out of it to get it running again. Tried new plugs still the same. Runing 90 octane gas. Anyone have any ideas?

your pilot jets are plugged. take carbs off, take out pilot jets and fuel screws. clean out pilot jets and pilot circuit passages real good w/carb cleaner and compressed air. then put jets back in and set fuel screws to 1-7/8 turns out from lightly seated. put carbs back on and you'll be good to go.

That worked, put some miles on now I adjusted the idle down to 1400 to avoid the hanging idle and now it seems to vibrate and shake. It almost sounds like its knocking. I don't know if that's normal? This is my first experience owning a Yamaha triple. Can somebody help me out?
We have a problem kinda similar to your first one. Sled runs fine but when you let off and go to get back in the throttle it wants to bog like we are loosing a cylinder almost.

Bring your idle back up to about 1800-1900 rpm and you should have no problems after that. That low rpm likes to shake the Viper around... I leave mine at 1800 and its all good...

put screws to 2-2 1/4 turns out if you still have a idle hange at 1700,1800. 1900 is too high should not need that much, you'll be fighting a hang all the time.
