I have a 00 sxr 600 with a stock 700 in it so my sec and gears are still from the 600. I just bought a 51/43 helix put it in on 2/6 it pulled harder out of hole up to 8700rpm. Then when I got over 50-60mph it would pick up speed faster but come in to corner it did not back shift good. It would only turn 8000rpm if luckly and would not pull to good. should I just tighten it up more? Or do I need a new spring. Stock is red. I ride hard right helix or not? What you guys think.

we need your set-up info, launch and wot rpm's.
first off you are way over-reving out of the hole.Get that down with added rivet weight in inner hole of weight. What weights do you have and what is the setup now?You running Red secondary spring? You have to get your primary set-up properly first RE: launch rpm's and wot rpm's.Then you may FINE-tune with secondary wrap.Don'gt use your secondary wrap to drop rpm's down 300 rpm's.

Here are a couple of responses from other past posts about a 700 SX set-up.
"142.5 main jets right across
lower needles 1/2(move 1 plastic shim from bottom of clip to the top)
reed spacers
change inner rivet froma 3.6 gram to a 4.5 gram
get a rx-1 helix & run it at 60 degree wrap"
"142.5 main jets strait cross
lower needles 1/2 all carbs
thin head gasket
punch out silencer exhaust to 2"
stock weights...inner rivet 3.6 & outer 3.6
51/43 helix from a apex/attak/rx1"

If you are using the 51/43 and not the 47, get a green sec spring and wrap it 60 (that's holes 3/3). Start there than get your primary set up right.
This will cure your backshift, and might even get you in the ballpark for rpms.
