I have a '00 SX-R 700 and my w-arm finally disintegrated on me last weekend while riding near Tower, MN. Wrecked my weekend. I definitely need to replace the whole arm because it broke in about 7 places (welding it is out of the question). I found some threads on this site recommending welding reinforcements on a stock w-arm but also found recommendations for a beefier model made by Maxximum Performance (who now appears to be out of business). Do any of you guys know of other aftermarket suppliers of beefier w-arms for the pro-action rear? If not, who's got the best trick for reinforcing the stocker? If I can't find an aftermarket replacement, I'd buy a new OEM w-arm and weld in reinforcements right away. Looking for your expert advice! Thanks guys.

I have fixed my original w-arm from the SRX..it was cracked everywhere. But got a mig welder and got plates and angle brackets and welded it up good as for the other 3 w-arms I have.I always have two spares ready to go,but looks like my welds are holding this year so far on both sleds.Especially the one on the SXR,the sled I use for jumping alot and it is still solid. Now that said, anything else down the line could now break.I have snapped the bolt that goes to the cross bar where the front shock mounts to on the bottom..Simple fix with easy-out and put another bolt in.I keep my eyes peeled for anything past the w-arm since the arm is solid now.

I also ran a double weld on both sides of the "ears" that the mounts the lower end of the front shock. Regarding the bolts holding the lower bar (for front shock mount), isn't it BETHEVIPER's write up where he recommends running one solid bolt through that entire shaft? I was thinking about doing that as part of a summer project as well as adding a few more grease fittings here and there.

I did the welding reinforcement on the wife's sxr....and I Added 8 grease zerks to dry pivot areas and made all new stainless steel and delrin plastic bushings for EVERY joint in the skid. It sure works smooth now. As for mine I have a SC-10 III skid so it doesn't have all of those problems!

the long bolt theory sounds good, but where you gonna fine one that long.I got it.Get a steel rod long enough and thread the ends and tighten with nuts...ok. Just checked my w-arm over good and there is not a crack anywhere,my welding job is holding..not bad for a first timer with the welding.I love the mig welder, can fix pretty well anything that breaks or cracks. No need to purchase to new parts to crack again.

Thanks for the advice guys. I checked pioneer's site and no w-arms, just complete suspensions. I'll try bender. If no luck there. I'll get a stock part and weld in some reinforcement. Do any of you who've done that have pics of it? Thanks again you guys.

here is mine .. http://www.totallyamaha.net/forums/showthread.php?t=51947 .i have not used it but have since marked it to punch out for the rails ...and there are some other guys work also .....and the long bolt i belive you run a peice of threded rod ....the bottom shock mount broke on a sled of mine a few weeks ago ...broke the bolt and the shock itself ...good thing i had the parts to fix it 300 miles away from the sled
