Reed Valve 292 Pistons

just cut/drill a GP292 piston. how close are the SR292 pistons? I can hook you up with some nos wiesco SR292 pistons if your REALLY in need

I'll have to check against an SR piston, I think a friend of mine has one out right now.
From what I can tell, it looks like the cutouts on the skirt (on the sides) of the GP292 piston are larger than the ones on the reed piston.

Ok, looks like these pistons were only used in:
1974 Sno Jet SST 295
1976 Yamaha GP 300

I BELIEVE the Yamaha part number is 899 1163 10096

Monty: SR 292 Piston is similar, but the intake side is different.

They were used in 74-75 GP292F and GP300. They were also used in 74 SST 295. The piston part number your looking for is 864-11631-00-96, That would be a std. A SR292 piston would also work fine in a 292 fan reed valve motor.

899- stands for gp300, they used the 864 (74' GP292f) motor.

Thanks, the 864 model code makes more sense now.
I will see if I can track down the original style. If not, SR pistons are easy to get.
