Ok, where to start, ok I have a 2002 SRX, and I'm noticing a strange noise coming from the Chaincase side, I'll try to describe the noise as a Dull pulsating chaffing noise....It seems to be more noticeable on de-exceleration, so far I have made sure, Jackshaft bearing checked, Chaincase bearing ( top and bottom ) checked, Drive axle bearing seem to be fine, I made sure Track is in Line with correct Deflection, I even went so far as to remove My speedo cable from bottom track driver bearing ( in case it was a dry cable )
It's not Ice collecting and rubbing in the tunnel, since I tried a Variety of Snow Conditions,,,the problem still persists.

I Tried removing the park Brake assembly figuring it was rubbing on the Disc, I removed the Main Brake Pads to try and eliminate some possibilities..so...I'm at a stand still here.

I inspected the Drive Chain with the 80 pound pull - 14 link measurement and that too seems to be fine......

Here's what I'm wondering......Should I burn this SRX or does anyone have any suggestions??

P.S Can someone tell what a Worn Chain and or Gear sounds like??? I'm thinking it has to be something like that.....( original chain )

P.S
New Belt, Secondary and primary redone with all Measurements and Specs as statedin the Yamaha Service manual.

OHH!!!! did an oil change pre season and drove for 20 Km....I noticed that the DIP had more than usual Metal particles stuck to it after only 20 km of driving...

any help would be greatly apprectiated!!!

Srxmagic, I had a look at the chain tensioner, It seems to be fine, but I cant really remember what it was like before.

Have you had this happen before? It makes sense that I would hear that on de-acceleration, but I cant tell 100 % if the noise is there on acceleration...I mean I try to listen but the engine noise overpowers it, Tried hitting the kill switch and listening that way...but...again,,, that would put pressure on the tensioner again.....

thanks again.

SRX Magic, what about that bearing in the Chain case cover? there's no lateral play in it, but it's defianatly a little noisy when cleaned and DRY, but I think that may be expected when ya clean it up with no oil..what do you think?

if you noticed that the DIP had more than usual Metal particles stuck to it after only 20 km of driving, then you have a bearing going south in the chain case. thats there i would start.
