I decided to rebuild the engines on my sleds this year. I have a 99 sx 700 with 25 000 km on it and a 97 500 xt with 15 000 km. Do i need to replace the crank bearings in either sled or should i just do top ends? Both have never been apart.
Thanks

man you are lucky getting them miles on and not opening up engine.I think that if you used a good grade of oil, your bearings should be ok.I will look into doing my SRX top end and possibly the 600 also this summer. Will see how the money comes in this summer, got other things to spend money on to.My wife tells me "is that all you think about is snowmobiles". I can see where she is coming from.It is a good part of my life..the sleds.I may be a little crazy with the sleds, spending $$$ when I complain about paying bills that come in the mail that are to high.I am cutting back on sled spending for sure now and saving a little for my two daughter's education and things. And of course saving for retirement after the markets have eaten up my investments.By the time I can afford another sled (NEW),I'll be to old..loll..And that is the TRUTH!!!

Ok thanks guys i'll make sure to check them very carefully. I have always used yamalube from day one so i wonder what things are like in there. I'll have to post some pics when i get them apart.
Should i be able to check them without pulling the motor though?
