I am wondering if the viper electric start will interchange with other models?
Anyone ever deal with this? I am trying to see if this will work on a 01 sxr 700.
I would of posted this in the sxr section but it is a viper electric start question..

i think it will fit sxr ...i have seen them on srx`s ....

Well I was looking at the yamaha parts fische and the pics & part numbers are a little different. I am nor sure if you can make it work because I do not know what part does what. It would be nice if someone tried this though. Here is the pics.
1st pic is the sxr and 2nd is the viper

it looks like the wire harness is gonna be the thing ...starter and ring gear are the same ...

right I noticed 3 or 4 differences. I wonder if it really matters?

If the starter motor and flywheel bolt on all you need is a solnoid and installed battery. Big red wire from battery to solinoid , wire other big terminal of solinoid to starter motor and a battery ground cable to the motor. Somewhere above recoil there is a junction block ( Unused ) with plug in it. Should be 3 wires , a red wire , red with white stripe , and a black. These are your starter crank , battery chg and ground wires which go to your solinoid also ( the slide on connecters on solinoid and on bat terminal ) I don't have my sled to check which terminal the red and red / white stripe are connected but will get back to you
