After a very long day [320 miles], lots of groomed lake miles at 90+ mph continuous running[20-30miles], my SRX's reverse chaincase was too hot to touch.
-synthetic oil, proper level
-all new bearings in fall
-gears plumbed
-chain tension setup finger tight
Questions:
1]would my chain tension increase or decrease at the high temps? [the chain should "grow" but all the other metal components are "growing" as well]
2]how hot is "normal" for a reverse chaincase?
3]should I be running my chain a little "looser"for the high speed running?
[additional note: the reason I checked my chaincase was because my ridding buddies 2000 Trail Mod T-Cat grenaded his chaincase on this trip!]
