How do I read the serial number?

I've got what I believe to be a '74 GPX that I want to restore for next seasons vintage rides and need help verifying that it's a '74. I want to be sure to get the right decals for it. It was painted and redecaled before I bought it. Any help?

you did not say what size 338 or 433
74 338 vin# starts 878- 75 vin#starts 888-

74 433 starts vin# 879- 75 vin#starts 889-

My GPX got a repaint sometime over it's life-in red. It has some "custom" decals on it now. I got my repops for the resto from Frank at E-Graphics.

Curious ..Unless changed , shouldn't the 74 have steel cleat track
and the 75 a rubber moulded ???
