What the heck is up with this recent problem? Next time I drop a ski into one of those zig-zagging quad tracks at 70 mile and hour, I'm gonna murder the next quad rider I see patiently chewing his way along, SCREWING UP THE TRAIL! Well, okay, not kill, but maim anyways! Geez this drives me nuts, they're called SNOWMOBILE trails!!!!!!!
Thing is, if it wasn't for the sleds packing it down, the morons wouldn't even be able to go there in the first place!
If any of you quad riders are reading this, RIDE ON THE DAM ROADS! You have tires, you can ride there, we can't. Besides, where is the enjoyment in bouncing along at 1 1/2 miles per hour chewing along like that anyway? Some guys tell me that they can't afford both a sled and quad, how'd that turn into the sledders problem? GET OFF!
Whew! There, I feel better, had my rant. Maybe there'll be one idiot less now? Best. G.

Wait till you hit a trail that a skidder went down. Similar ruts only 10 times the size. It sure is nice when they put up logging signs to warn you.

it really sucks when you start b'in the guy out and come to find out your on his land, duh'''....this happen locally and at one of the snowmobile meetings this senario was brought up, now the trail has a sign stating the land owner owns four wheelers and to be curtious....

Yeah, those skidders really mess the trails up!
I have only rarely seen quads on trails near my cottage, but the one time really cheezed me off as these 2 sport quads( 2wd only) ripped the living hell out of a literally just groomed interconnecting rural trail. I was the first sled to ride on the groomed trail, but I was the 3rd vehicle, behind those jackasses. The amazing thing was they were going like all hell, only due to the smooth trail THEY had. For me, I couldn't catch them even though I had a 120 hp sled. They rutted the trails up so badly I could not keep up with them. To this day I cannot believe how fast they were going. I also could not believe how both of those 2 guys kept the quads out of the trees.
I guess they knew to go like hell because had I caught them, they would have been better off in the trees on their own power.

Just take a spear and punture their tires when you pass them, then would like to see how they could continue on.We have an idiot contractor out here who ones a parcel of land just down from me.He dumps all debris in their from dirt to rocks to garbage. For the last few weeks they have been dumping a lot in there..but now they need a big tracked backhole to push everything in place.Their shop is about 5 miles from me.They run the damn machine down the ditch, most times missed the sled trials, but by my house he is right on top of it and friggin puts 2 lanes of tracks on the trail, creating rutts and turns sideways to climb the ditch. He tried 3 differnt places to get that thing up the ditch.Man did he ever screw up the trail good.If you didn't know, and were riding at night..man would you ever get a surprise. You would lose your sled for sure in them ruts and go flying to boot.It warmed up and got cold again.Man them ruts are like rock hard now.Pisses me right off. Then on the other side of the service road where I go and do alot of ditchbanging, because the snow drifted in there good,he decides to go on that side and now I can't even go down there unless I go 3 mph without getting injured. Now I can't do my speed runs and hit the culverts and do my jumping without the possibilty of death.WHAT a JERK!!!!

To my knowledge, they are allowed on Ontario trails to access lakes and only on the section that gains them that access. For the most part the ice fisherman don't rip up the trails and I've yet to run across a torn up trail from quads. Knocking on wood here.

we have NO ATV signs all over our trails here in winter....problem is vasy majority are atv trails in the other 3 seasons, so maybe they feel its thier right.

There are few marked, designated snowmobile trails here and for the most part, we just make our way. The trails vary from across farmers fields to ditches, wherever we can to avoid fences and find our way, so yes, some of them are used regularly by quads in the other seasons. These 'ways' as I like to call them, usually turn out to be the best way to goor are the only way, and subsequently get used by all the sled traffic and turn into nice little snowmobile highways. That is, until you get someone trying to traverse them on his quad!!! It is a very common problem here though, mostly closer to the towns and the bars, but you have to be wary as they can be anywhere. You even get the odd rocket scientist, most likely drunk, who goes playing on the trails in his 4X4 and really messes them up. Then there's the guys who take their quads and spin round and round in a circle till they dig down to the dirt. (Huh? I REALLY don't get that! Duh, hit me in the head with the puck coach!) Then you come smokin along on the SRX and find a hole in the trail that will rattle the teeth right of out of your head and possibly launch you off into those nice, soft trees! Don't even think about dropping a ski into one of the 4X4 ruts!!!!! I think I'll try writing in to the local paper, don't know what else to do, this is unsafe. G.

be glad crew. it is no fun at all. been there and done that. i was ready to rip the bugger a new one if i would have caught him. running right down the middle of the groomed trail so you are always stuck with 1 ski in the ruts. i only run my quad on snow when it is frozen as hard as ice. barely makes a dent that way. rather use the sled though.
Be careful who you call "idiots" around here!!! Those LAND OWNERS are also 4 wheeler riders!!!!! There are MILLIONS of IDIOTS on THIS FORUM that ride like IDIOTS and the 4 wheeler guys are PISSED OFF at US!!!!! Ther are a LOT MORE snowmobilers than there are "wheelers" so,, there is MORE TOUBLE with snowmobilers than there will be with "wheelers",, so BE CAREFUL what you BiTCH ABOUT!!!!

We here in NB have dates on our trail pass that state it's start and expiration,Dec15 - April15 ( I think ) and within those dates we as trail pass buyers are supposed to have exclusive rights to those trails but it doesn't always work out that way.Certain areas of the province have shared use with the ATV club in that area for whatever reason I can't imagine, personally I don't agree with that kind of shared use but I understand it's in areas of a bridge crossing or some such thing like that.
I certainly empathize with guys finding rutted up trails on designated groomed sled trails there are problem spots here with renegade wheeler owners that just seem to find some kind of enjoyment in ripping up our trails.I'm afraid that it may come down to a confrontation of some kind and possible jail time or worse to a few over zealous snowmobilers defending the trails against the idiots who are unfortunate to get caught.
I don't own a 4 wheeler and never really had any use for one so I'm on the side that would probably be in jail for defending the trails and I know a lot of people who feel that same way.We do have legalized enforcement on our trails but they can't be everywhere and unfortunately it's us snowmobilers that seem to be the ones being picked on by these glorified rent a cops for stupid things like license plate location or simple sh*t like that.
Well that's my rant,who's next?
