Is it possible and or worth it to retro fit an older SRX with DCS ?
Would give me some piece of mind.
I know people say that 2001 SRX is faster because it does not have DCS, I would rather run a touch slower and not have to worry so much about detonation though
Not that it detonates very much right now, I'd would be cool though.

it can be done but lots of work,wire harness,cdi, water rail,, dash cowl.etc.
I dont think you need the dash plastic, just drill a small hole on the left hand side for the little light.

I believe the last 2 years are the fastest SRX when compared in stock form. Guys keep saying the 2001 is the faster one, bench racing I guess. I have never riden a 2002 to know the seat of the pants differance. I should look around for some stock to stock radar runs but.... I doubt the differance is that big if there is a diff.
Potentially the DCS could retard your timming making you run slower. I think that is what the DCS does, then again perhaps it will only limit the RPMs to a selected range like 4000 RPM once it detects any knock.
Like I say, I have never riden one to know what the 2002s are like.
I do know burn down sucks though

The dcs is crap imo... yea it saves your motor from going kaboom, but if it was such a problem why isn't it on the 98-01's? when i'm holding my 01 srx WFO i have no fear that the motor will go to hell. and if it does it needs a motor rebuild anyways at 6500 miles.

Nothing wrong with DCS i wish my '01 had it, when your using the proper fuel and the lights staying off your at full HP,remember gas was better back in '02 even '04 with the viper,DCS is the cats @ss!!!

I have an 02 SRX and I have no DCS issues whatever to contend with at all.And I ride wot a lot of times.I am not afraid to run it hard,DCS does not cause me to lose rpm's.Was doing wot runs last weekend on 1 mile plus stretch's,no light was coming on.I am jetted as the 01's,run good quality gaS ALWAYS.No complaints from me,but others seem to have this issues with DCS.Basically your gas quality is no good and your jetting could be off.But I still like the idea that the DCS is there for me..in case I have to fill up at a unknown gas station that mix's extra regular gas in with their premium.
