I just bought a 03 Viper ER, 3600 miles.
Found that the bearing on track drive shaft PTO side had failed. Nothing left but the inner race and 3/4 of the outer race. So I replaced all bearings in chaincase, track driveshaft and the shaft from chain case to senondary clutch.
Got her all back together and started up, when I would rev the engine it would jump up on the PTO side, thought whats up with that. Found that the engine mount bolts on the front (By exhaust) PTO side engine mount that go into the crankcase had backed out and were missing? Looks like the threads are ok and I will replace. Any idea on size of these bolts, diameter and length? Should I locktite these? Is it common for them to back out? Just wondering because I dont want it to happen agian. Wonder what went wrong.
When I was cleaning up the sled I found old chunks of a belt that had failed. I assume the mount bolts came out causing the clutch alignment to be bad and belt failure.
I dont think any of this would cause the track drive bearing to fail?

Thanks for your advise.

Do yourself a favor and get a manual for your sled. Then youll have all the info covering your it. Almost every bolt on a sled is coated with loctite.

yes yes use loctite for sure,no that wouldn't have made your bearing go south, lack of grease is what done that guy in.
