Does anyone have a way to test these race modded CDI's??? I suspect a problem with one I just purchased.. Sled pulls rpm to 9400 then slides down to 8900 and powers back up to 9400.. This cycle repeats itself.. I tried a stock CDI on the same sled and it would pull 9200 rpm's and flatten out no surging with the stocker just not enough power to pull peak rpm due to the lack of timing in the box ...

Any thoughts??

Dan

I would think if fuel was restricted I would experience a lean condition on a long pull.. I had no signs of this.. I will however try a mach Z fuel pump this weekend to eliminate this possibility.. THX for the input...

riding , fri, sat , sun, mon, 4 days off , let me know , i would like to go too!!!!!! no cheating for the trail ride !!!!!!!!lol...lol....

Pure stock, you can tech me Vince!!! I'll be running my Apex... May run 102 mph on a good day with a tail wind!!! I'm betting I get to that speed pretty quick though. LOL

we just bought a 4 stroke frontier , Dan i dont think it will do , 60 , i cant stop laughing when i get on it , it has a bucket seat and alll...loll...........

note ; Dan I dont know if this is even possible , but what if you figured out a way to use a sx mag ***. . with sx harness and cdi , i think the curve is indefininate , or somthing like that , just a thought :dunno:

Already have it figured out if the fuel pump doesn't work.. Sx curve is great just how do you control the power valves?? HUMMMM Think we can make these work Valin!!!

i'm workn on building an improver srx and was told on an other forum that an sx cdi has good timing but the powervalve have to be locked open??? although i was never explained to how to do so, if so it would save me a whole lot of headaches than trying to locate a race box for a 99'

Getting the power valves to work with the SX ignition is no big deal Vince.. I was going to run an MSD window switch to drive the servo motor.. Locking the valves open will work well for someone like me doing a 2000 ft radar run but I'd sure like them to be working if I was running 500ft on grass.. JMO might actually be faster with valves locked open.. Have yet to try this.. I'm running a 1999 600 SRX Jamie.. Have pretty much decided to replace the complete ignition system at this point..

It might work OK on the grass but as I said JMO.. Would really have to test both ways on a good set of timers.. You get that cat rocking this season Josh?? You should get it up here in the next couple weeks, we will have ideal conditions for speed runs..

stock gear on the cat, a little voodoo and it runs out of gear in the mid 120's in very short order. No spray, yet..It can definately pull another 10 mph for gear but 5 more would be ideal for trail/lake and would put me into the 130's w\o a problem.
