Anyone know the difference between a "mountain" srx and a "regular" srx? Is there any difference other than the decal? Track? gearing?
I wonder what the price difference between the two was when they were new?

I had a msrx. one of the best sleds i ever had. great for racing 660 on snow.

They sold a ton of em in my area. there are a still a lot around today with over 20,000 km,s & never been touched.

It seems to me that there weren't nearly as many mountain versions sold? Kinda why i was wondering the cost difference too...

The Mountain SRX's are one of those sleds that never seem to come up for sale...they either stay in the family or the owner has a list of people wanting/waiting to purchase it. Kinda like a 69/70 Cobra Jet Mustang! [I think the 2005/06 Mountain Vipers are falling into this category as well!]

I had one brand new here in Michigan. Best sled I ever had hands down. Had 14000 on it when I sold it and should have kept it. I had an xtc frt end on it with works shocks. Never touched the rear end only for a cracked rail . Had it re-geared 23-39 with a 70 chain. 911 kit on front and er kit on the secondary. Got excellent fuel and oil mileage. Handled rough stuff and stuck to trail like glue. Let me down once in canada. Bad stator at 12000 mi.

Wow thats good to know... I guess i just stumbed on to mine by accident... I guess the stock 136" track in it wasn't enough though cuz the guy i bought it off of put a 151x2" track in it, and its truely a powder monster.

Msrx

My freind and I bought ours new in 98 the only year they made the MSRX and we both went through 4 Cranks in 3 years 2 not welded and 2 welded. he still has his I bailed for a SXr and spent a fortune on it cause I liked it better.

I just found my '95 and '98 Yamaha Brochures. Nothing about prices in the '98 book. I do like the way the Mountain package says "Mountain SRX". That is one nice lookin ride. I also like the way the '95 800 looks on the cover of that brochure. "The Power To Satisfy" is what it says on the cover. What an understatement!

Here are the "Retail"Canadian prices on the 1998 SRXs:

SRX 700 $10699.00

MOUNTAIN SRX 700 $10799.00
-136 X 1.5" TRACK 41" SKI STANCE [I don't remember the track being 1.5" but thats what the price sheet I have says]
-long travel rear suspension
-wider skiis

Thats a heck of deal for an extra 100 bucks!!

A 700 Mountain Max retail was $9699.00
