I am running a 944 MM mod sled with a 159 track and I have horrible trenching issues. On solid snow this thing rips but as soon as I get into powder all it does is make a trench a mile deep. Its so bad a polaris 700 mod sled out marked me by quite a bit. My suspension is stock other than I don't have transfer rods and have the strap kit in its place. What is the best skid option to do. I was thinking of going with either a Polaris 159 or 2008 155 suspension or a 153 AC suspension. What have you mm guys done to fix this issue?

i may have a 153 ac m skid coming out soon, if your interested. in the mean time, have you tried adjusting your rear shocks in the stock skid? front of rear tighten up, rear of rear all the way in the softest setting, limiter straps all the way out.

Are you still running the stock chaincase and 8 tooth drivers? Stock skid location? Are you trenching because you are overtransfering from that transfer enhancment kit. I have seen this before. The rear half of the skid is most likely collapsing way more than the front half when you are climbing then the front half is relaxed all the way out on the limiters creating a crappy appoarch angle and causing the trench. Try buiding a scissor stop for the rear suspension link arm and attaches to the rail. Just like putting transfer rods back in it only lighter. Are you having to run your track pretty tight?
If you are going to try another skid you might consider a Cat 1M skid. It bolts into the stock location up front and then you modify the rear drop brackets. The downside of the 1M is ride quality is not great. The upside is no more trenching. They get you up on the snow and keep you there.

I am running a dropped and rolled chain case with 9 anti ratchet tooth drivers and an ekholm tunnel. The front of the suspension is setup in the stock ekholm setting and the rear is on the bottom set of holes one forward from the back. I might be trenching because of overtransfering but kinda doubt it. My rear shock is set up really stiff, not sure what the front shock is setup like. (New to me sled, wish I knew more about the Yamaha). I had my track really loose but tightened it up a little about 3/4 of inch of slack under the rails under pressure.

sounds like your running the same mount points that i did. is that tunnel cracking below the mounts yet? if the rear shock is set stiff, this will aid in your trench problem. is the moscow in your sig idaho or russia? i run a cross bar behind the scissor as trip mentioned above. have a few optional holes for mounting to find the sweet spot. if your in idaho, i am not too far away.

look at my post under "working log", entitled "summer projects underway". i have some pics in there. otherwise all the sleds at at my cabin. what pics in particular were you interested in? heading up this weekend, could take some more.
