I finally got the crank bearings replaced and the crank fits the case nicely. I also replaced all the rubber seals. Now I am ready to put the cases together.
I did read/search about using yamabond but no one said about how much to use.

I was wondering if you can use to much? Also what is the recommended # of yamabond? I did read there is #4

Just put a thin layer on both halves, it's not like you need to lay a bead of it or anything. A little excess will do no harm

if you use too much it just squeezes out anyway. i think yamabond changed it's numbers or discontinued one or the other just make sure you get the one that is semi drying?

Put it on, then scrape it off with light pressure on a straight edge. I use a credit card. It is only used to fill the pores and make it air tight. It is not a gasket.

update...

I got the case together. I used # 4 because there is no # 5 available around here. Anyway I did have extra on the halves and wiped it down and cleaned the extra of the crank. It should never leak.... ;)! .

Here are the the case halfs

Now I am ready to do the water pump with a new gasket. I am going to try and clean the engine bay up but there is no drain holes :o| Not sure what I am going to do about that.

I am ready to put the water pump back on but I need to know the torque spec for the pump bolts. Anyone know? I searched this and found some interesting info. I read there is a weep hole. Now maybe I missed something but it is a sealed unit. I read it has a weep hole and can leak. I am going to look at this again to see if I missed this.

Anyhow I need to know what to torque the water pump housing bolts at?

9.4 ft lbs.

you did put some(1-2oz) 2 smoke oil in the pump sump?

thanks

You mean in the crank bottom where the lines are at? Not sure what the pump sump is.

I did use assembly oil on the bearings and seals. Before I put the jugs on I am going to put oil in the case in each cyl hole.

I put a lot of yamaha grease in there until the oil gets to it. I put it in both bearings.

thanks for the input.

Alot were the cases at the water pump housing I am going to put yamabond there so the seal don't leak.
