shock options-96XT?

I need a rear skid front shock for a 1996 Vmax 600XT. Near as I can tell this is an oddball shock for this year only with no aftermarket options. Anyone have any options other than the $479 factory shock? Thanks

a buddy of mine put a shock off an sxr on . I think you can also put a front sus. shock from an srx or sx on there too. might need to change spring.

Thank you Yammy! I guess I will try checking the free length and compressed length specs---hopefully the sxr is close and will work. I always wonder when the catalogs never list an option how far off the specs actually are! They never tell tyou that
