Shock preload adjusting..?

Hi, I have a 99 Vmax 500 blizard is coming through Iowa tonight so I wanna ride hard LOL But anyway, Id like to adjust my front and rear shock so its stiffer. Right now they are both at the softest position, but i dont understand how you turn the adjuster thingy. I dont have anyspecial tool for it or anything.....

long pry bar or screw driver and a hammer I'll believe the snow when I see it

A rag and a large pair of channelock pliers can do it too.

Relieve as much tension as you can off springs.. Lift sled off ground whether be the front or back..
