I came across a smoking deal on a camo/"mountain" 153x2.5 new in the wrapper with anti-rachet drivers. Sled is a 01 mm700 144 with slp pipes. I was hoping to get a hartman kit to shove it in... however, kits are for 151 or 156. Can I still make this work, or did I get the wrong track?
I love these sleds, but at 6'2" x 240 lbs, I need a little more footprint in the pow.
Thanks

I don't want to jack your post but if your 144 track is any good I am interested in it

Hartman should have what you need. Give him a call. Things have been quiet up there. He answers the phone right away.

that track will be extremely tight in the bulkhead without rolling the chaincase. look at your track in there now and imagine another 1/2" on the lugs. how much clearance on the front cooler? also, that track will be either a 3" or 2.86" pitch, so driver selection will be important. drivers would have to be 7t to allow fitment, verses the stock 8t you have. as far as making it compatable with your skid, if your skid is on 144 rails, you would need 4 1/2" rail extensions and a 151 tunnel extension. easily done. the big issue will be track clearance.

oops
I made two mistakes. 1) My track currently is stock (141) sorry T.S.U.Filmz. 2nd, the track (if I'm measuring right) is 2.25 not 2.5 The anti-ratchets that "came with it" are 7 tooth (two of them).
I've read a lot of posts on here about MM's w/ 2.25 to 2.5 track, are they all on rolled chaincases?
Again, if I'm measuring right, the camo is a 3" pitch. So I would still need new drivers for the outside lugs, right?
I plan on calling Hartman this week (I'm only an hour and half away) and see about some head work, reeds and spacers etc...
Thanks a bunch.

no need for additional drivers. lose all but the antiratchets. instead of 4.5" exts, now you need 6". as for the 7t, 3"p drivers, they will circumference at 21", vs slighly over 20" for the stock 8t 2.52 drivers currently on your sled. so now you can do some math and add the nearly 1/2" driver diameter plus the 1/4 -1/2" additional lug height of the track and as i said before, see if it will clear. basically add a piece of 3/4" stock to your existing track and check for clearance at the bulkhead. quicker and easier than a full r&r on the existing skid.

Am I an idiot
Snowdad4: I crawled under there and took a peak... I see what you mean. I have a 1/2" clear right now. Still havn't called hartman, but will. Maybe that's why he sells long track kits with tracks?
So... another question, I'm wondering if I'm an idiot. The rear suspension has two settings, "standard" and "deep snow." Mine is on "standard" I went to change it to "deep snow" but could only get the bolt out of one side. I had to hold one bolt from spinning while taking the other out. Thought I could reach up and hold the collar while taking the other out.... nope, it spins freely from the bolt.
What gives? I'm completely stumpified.

its kind of a finesse thing. what i do is spin one side till it breaks loose, retighten and move to the other side, repeat. once the bond from the locktite is broken, usually you can remove both bolts. sometimes i back each one out a little bit at a time, working against the other side. if you arent using an impact, air or electric, your probably not going to get it.

Thanks again... I'll put some air to it and give it another try.
Heading up to Anthony Lakes tomorrow and its supposed to be snowing again up there.

You should be able to make the 153 work with the 151 rails. With the anti ratchet drivers you can run the track sloppy loose so I don't think you'll have a problem. If so add a bigger rear wheel and eat up a little of the extra that way.
So did you ever get the 153 in? I know of one that I could get for cheap, and I'm wondering if I can get it to work without too much trouble.

Yup
Got it in before I started riding (see pics). It ended up being a 151 x 2.5. We used the anti-rachets it "came with" and ended up trimming about 1/4" off each paddle. Dude had a track trimmer, took like 20 minutes. No biggie. I'm not sure what he did for clutching (I havn't tackled clutching yet), but it is awesome. It's hard to tell what all did what, we put in Boysen reeds, spacers, shaved head, completely new top end (jugs, pistons etc..)
It's a new machine... If I were to change anything, I'd even go longer on the track. But it's sweet.
