a friend and I finished installing an Expert-X suspension in my SRX this morning. He had it in his RX1. I tried it out this afternoon. Wow, what a difference! There was lots of powder on the trails (no, I'm not rubbing it in :-) ) so the bumps wouldn't have been too noticeable anyway, but the times I jumped the snowbanks back onto the trail at road crossings, it was so smooth. It also made a huge difference in the powder since the running boards are now higher off the ground. I wasn't crazy about the black rear wheels, but they're growing on me. I think some solid colored SlyDogs wheels would look good.

Next step is Pioneer's front shock extenders and reversed mounting brackets to increase travel and raise the front a bit. After that it's raising the seat. I'd love a Boss like that on Boomer's Viper, but I'll probably have to settle for raising it with some type of aluminum frame. Once that's done, I will install a handlebar riser. Not sure how high yet. I ride sitting down mostly, but I want to be able to go from seated to standing more easily and also not have to crouch down if I'm riding standing or with my knee on the seat. I might get an adjustable one so I can find exactly the right spot. I don't want ape hangers!

Try giving your handlebars a Raise. I have the extended Ohlins with the flipped shock mounts on the front of my sled. I also raised my handlebars 6" and put MX bars on it, and that was the icing on the cake!

Here is a pic. of my sled.

I plan to do that. 6" might be too much for me since I ride sitting down mostly, for long distance trail rides. With the extenders and reverse brackets, did you have to make any adjustments to your radius rods or steering linkage? Did the ski stance change at all?

Expert X--Boss Seat

Hey Man,

Ur not rubbing it in.....we just did 200 miles yesterday up to Joncas in Quebec just across the river from Deep River. We would have went further but we were cutting trail thru 6-8" of snow and came across a couple wash outs that needed a bit of improvising to make them passable. Not as much snow as you guys but man were the trails awesome.

I just put an Expert X and Boss seat on my Viper with 2" bar risers and it is the best $$$ I have ever spent. I have put on 500 miles with this new set up and I don't have is set up perfect yet and man is it awesome. I am still going to buy a 4 stroke for our long runs up in Quebec but man this is going to be a fun sled to run around here. I am just happy I got to try it out as much as I did cause it sure would have been a long summer looking at the sled if I didn't.

No adjustments to anything else, the ski stance is a little shorter because your raising the front and pushing the ski's farther away nothing to worry about though. I would recommend MX style bars because they are much wider than the OEM bars, and you get a little more leverage. I feel retarded if I get back on a yamaha that has stock handlebars on it.

I personally didnt like the Hi rise boss seats, just to high up for me.

What are you guys using for extended brake, throttle & oil cables?I've got a low Rox riser now but thought about going to about a 4" one and am wondering about cables.

Either OEM MTN Viper Cables or A/M(RSI,SLP,Powermadd) Brake Cable with Gravity Worxs Throttle and Oil cables

Expert X

I love my Expert X in my 780 SRX. I stretched it out to 136. I also added a BLT kit in the front end. I lucked out and found a set of Ohlin's that were a true long travel. They were custom built for the Yamaha snocross team by Ohlin. Not that the the Works shock weren't great but I love my Ohlin's. Here is a couple pic's.

First off I just wanted to say very nice sled TogGunnSRX. I also have a 6 inch riser mine is made by ROX which i run with the mountain cables and I cant live with out them. I also had my seat stuffed at an upholstery shop so that the whole seat is as high as the bump in the back is which made just the right height for me and i didn't have to spend much money at all.
