I am looking at a 2004 viper and the guy told me it had 1100 miles on it. He also said that he put knew ski's on it because the carbs were shot and also he said a new fuel line because the other dried up. I didn't think that 1100 miles would require new skis and fuel line. The sled has a digital spedo on it and was wondering if there was any way of telling if he unplugged it then road 5000 miles and replugged it back in or somehow had the computer card changed back to 1100. I know ware an tear will show but some people can hide that really well. There any ideas about that? also he said that he had to re-enforce the a-arms because they kept bending is that common thing also on these sleds?

sounds more like he didn't run it very much at all if the carbs were shot and the fuel lines were cracked. What doesn't make sense from your post is he put new skii's on because of the carbs??? Not sure whats up with that. The A arms arn't a problem as far as I know I have 16 000 miles on my Viper and never bent the A arms. Take some pics....post them and all depends what he wants for it???

The story does not add up??? Sounds fishy. I have 03 viper with no problems to the trail arms. Post some pics to show the condition.

If theres somebody selling something like this, then I wouldn't buy it. Stay away from it and look for another one, when I was looking for a sled last fall, there were a couple half decent sleds around, but nothing that was maintained really well, would you rather have a sled with higher mileage but maintained excellent and in pretty much mint conditoin or something with like 3000 kms but was beat to death??? My sled now has just over 12000 kms and looks like it has 3-4000, except where my trailing arm was bent from when i hit a rock, but It is straightened/reinforced now. If I were you, look for another Viper, unless he's selling it for a steal of a price.

I believe he is saying the CARBIDES were worn out. Not a reason I would change skiis. But if he rode it enough to wear the carbides all the way down, that would damage the skiis. Look it over very well. Check bearings in the wheels and chaincase. Check chain tension and condition of chaincase lube. Do a compresson check. Overall condition of the machine is indicative of how it was ridden. My 02 has close to 12,000 miles on it. My son rode it at the March TY ride and had zero issues. And I have BEAT the snot out of it LOL!

ya i did mean the carbide i was just using carbs becuase its shorter but i think he replaced them because they were worn down, not right to the skis but hes had it since 05 has 3 other snowmobiles. How do i do a pressure check and are the bearing in the wheels easy to get at? and what do you mean by tension. I am new at snowmobiles i have been riding my friends extra for the past couple years but i have a friend that is mechanic that comes along when i look at him since he works on them quiet a bit. He has saves me on thing countless of time with buying one so he should know. And it is for 2grand which is a steal?

i looked at the sled. there was some wear an tear on the outside and a little rust on the sway arm. But the engine was real nice and strong. It still had paint on the exaust.
