On my 02 700 Viper,I was hoping I could measure without buying a special tool,
doesn't seem like that is going to work.
My Yamaha service manual calls for a Distance gauge(90890-01702,YS 91047-3) and an Offset gauge (YS-42421-1,,,15mm offset).
So I think my question is,,, is there a good combo gauge?
Or,what do you all use?
Thanks
Steve

the k&l tools you speak of are nice and work well but if you wanna go cheap take a piece of flat stock, drill a hole, thread a bolt ground down to a point with a nut to lock it in place, measure very carefully to 268.5mm and scribe a mark. as far as offset, you can use the same strait edge (flatstock) and use a caliper to measure 15mm or make another piece with a 15mm offset. if you see a picture of either of these tools you will be able to duplicate them for very cheap.
I've purchased and used the one from ULMER Racing, they are a sponser on this site. Very easy to utilize, and quality made. Check under accessories on their site. $45.00. Has multiple ways to measure Center to Center, both wit and w/o the primary on, and off-set is very easy also.
