I am trying to remove a bearing/boogie wheel from a yamaha v-max skid. It has a inner e-clip I removed, but the bearing surface is tight to the shaft. I bought a puller, and it does not clamp on the edges correctly, it just slips off the rubber wheel.

Thanks

Which idler wheel is it?If it is the top ones that hold the track up off the skid then the way to take it off that I have found to be the easiest is to take the snap ring out and tap the wheel off the bearing by going around it at various points.Once that is done you can use a puller to pull the bearing off the shaft. To reinstall the idler you can put everything back together on the bench (press the bearing into the idler and put the snap ring in being mindful to go around the snap ring and tap in into the groove) and use something like a piece of pipe to tap the wheel into place on the shaft.

I used some heat on 1 before and it came right off. Plastic melted a little bit but your replacing it anyways right?
