I bought a used 98 xtc 700 this last summer and when I was summerizing it I found that the bottom of the air box had about six 3/8" holes drilled in it. Does anyone have any experience with this mod that you could share with me.
Thanks

Don't they all? I dont think its a mod. I think that just the way they are stock.

There is a airbox mod, where you drill the shelf and top half. You can check in the Tech section for details.

Are you assuming it's stock? Have you had that sled since day one? I cleaned the airbox on my MM and I think I would have noticed if it had 6 drainage holes, because that's a little more than you need I think. But I could be wrong.

After the Flood waters go down here and I get a chance to clean out the shed from this water,I will ride my sleds there and winterize them.I will check the air box when I take them out for fogging. ;)!
The water is a little deep there right now, don't you agree:

yes, there are about 6 small holes in my 00 sxr. actually got sick of blowback oil dripping into the pan thru them, so stuck a 3/4" long piece of faucet tubing in them. air still gets in, but oil stays put til I clean it out.

fwiw, I heard the airbox mod isn't very good, and causes problems? :dunno:
