I have a 02 Viper model SXV70ERG.
My Yamaha workshop manual lists the 02 SX Viper as one of the sleds covered, manual 12618-02-17.
Inside the book the models covered are,,,,,,,
VX700
SX700
MM700
VX700DX
VT700

Anyone know which model in the book is me ?

At first I thought I was a SX700,but none of the specs match up and the machine is all stock, I match up with the parts listed at Portyamaha, listed for the 02 Viper.

Thanks

Your sled is not in that manual. that covers the red head triples only.

I'm not 100% positive on this but the model designation on the manual you want is for SXV,(SX Viper).

That's the manual I have, right on the front cover is says 2002 SX Viper.
Confusing.
Worse than Italian motorcycles,sort of.

thanks

Huh!! Well that is the extent of what I know about Viper manuals, sorry I couldn't be of more assistance hopefully someone with the proper manual will chime in here.

i have a manual that sounds similar to yours, in the back there is an appendix that has a few pages on the viper. did you look all the way through? dont have it nearby, but had clutching/jetting specs, codes, coolant procedures, and some misc.

Actually both manuals apply to the Viper. The Viper manual is a supplementary manual. There are a number of components that are different from the redhead 700's to the Viper. These are all included in the Viper manual. On the other hand, there are things not included in the Viper manual that are the same as the other sleds. For these items, you use the manual that you have (12618-02-17).

You will find that there are only a handful of items not included in the Viper manual, thus most folks get along without the "redhead" manual.

Yes thanks for trying to help, I also have the Owner's Manual.
The problem is finding the correct Workshop Manual.

Thanks Ding.
So do you know the stock number of the so called Viper Manual ?

The Viper supplementary manual was LIT-12618-02-22

There is a newer complete manual for the Viper and the Venture with the Viper engine LIT-12618-VT-VS - I haven't actually seen one of these, but a buddy ordered one.

Kevin at Port Yamaha can get you the manuals. He might have some of the older ones.
